One Week Ago

One week ago I was laying in a hospital bed holding my new baby boy. We went to the hospital Wednesday after an appointment with my OB-GYN.  My blood pressure was high and the amniotic fluid levels were low. My doctor wanted to start inducing labor. It was supposed to be a slow induction, probably not giving birth until late Thursday or Friday. I didn't care, but was just so excited this was finally happening.

It was a long night in the hospital Wednesday. I was given medication to help my cervix soften and begin to dilate. The medication started contractions coming every 3-5 minutes. My parents and TJ took turns staying with me that night. TJ and I walked the halls of the labor and delivery floor. The contractions were becoming unbearable.

My doctor came to see me Thursday morning, after a night of contracting (and no sleep) I was finally dilated to a 3. She broke my water and asked if I wanted an epidural.  I had been all for natural child birth throughout the pregnancy, but after an exhausting night of contractions I decided to get the epidural. Once I did the rest of the day was pretty uneventful. My mom and TJ took turns sitting with me and my nurse came in and checked on me every couple hours.

Things were progressing very slowly so I sent TJ home to take a nap. He called a few hours later to check on things and I had only progressed to a 4 so I told him to stay home and rest.  Twenty minutes later I was telling my mom to get the nurse. I was ready.  She called TJ and told him to get back to the hospital. The nurse came and checked me, but the baby was still really high. She asked me to give a practice push, which I did, she responded by saying we should call the doctor.

I began to panic that TJ wasn't going to get back in time. All I wanted to do was push, but they wouldn't let me. Finally TJ arrived, followed by the doctor. We were ready to meet our baby. I pushed through about 5 contractions and Desmond was born. It was the most amazing experience of my life. He was perfect.
It has been an exhausting first week with this little boy, but I have never felt so blessed.  Desmond is truly amazing.

Ready and Waiting

I am now officially 37 weeks pregnant, only 20 days until my due date. We have been busy around the house finishing the baby room and last minute projects. My best friend Abby helped me create my very first scrapbook from the baby shower. It turned out really cute and I am excited to add more pages once the baby is here. It is getting hot and my feet have swollen up pretty big. My doctor made me start wearing compression or nursing socks. They are not so cute.  TJ is being so patient with me. I am becoming more and more irrational and moody. He is going to be such a great dad.

So, that's it. We are ready and waiting for the baby to arrive whenever he is ready. Until then we are trying to enjoy our last few days of being just the two of us and getting lots of rest.

This is the baby's room. It is small but I love the crib and the bedding. I think I finally have everything organized and in its place. The only thing I don't have finished yet is the vinyl lettering I want to put above the crib. Hopefully that will get finished next week.

Part 3

We are now in the third trimester with only 10 more weeks to go! I cannot believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone. It seems like just yesterday we were praying to reach 12 weeks. Baby Wolfe has become quite active over the last 2 weeks. He kicks and punches and does somersaults all over my stomach. I have kankles on an almost permanent basis now. I am starting to feel the nesting need, wishing I could stay home every day and take all the time I can to clean the house from top to bottom.

We started prenatal classes a couple of weeks ago. They have been interesting so far. Last week we watched a birthing video and made a cervix out of play-dough. TJ is taking the classes very seriously and is going to be a great birthing coach. He was so excited when I told him to put some Grateful Dead on my relaxation play list.

Did I Mention It Was a Boy?

Here is a picture of our baby boy at 24 weeks. The doctor says he weighs about 2 pounds now. He was moving around a lot during our last ultrasound, but this time he wasn't budging. The doctor was bouncing the wand on my stomach trying to get hime to rotate. Everything else looks great. I lost 6 pounds between this doctor appointment and the last one. This pregnancy seems to be going by so quickly. Everyday I add something to thie list of things that need to be done before his arrival.
I continue to feel increadibly blessed. Pregnancy is an amazing miracle, and I thank Heavenly Father every day for this little boy that will soon be joining our family. TJ and I are so thankful for the many prayers and fasts that were done on our behalf. Okay, sentimental pregnancy moment over.

22 Weeks Later

Here I am at 22 weeks.  I felt the baby roll over this week.  He's using my internal organs as punching bags.  Oh well, at least my liver will regenerate.

TJ and I will be better at posting pictures of the pregnancy, for the benefit of interested parties that aren't local to Reno.  We know you guys care, and we appreciate it.  We think that Leia suspects that a new addition is arriving, she seems to be doing okay.  But then again, she's a dog.  Really, what can you tell unless you're Caeser Milan or something.

Enjoy.
